Bali is a province within the Republic of Indonesia, with its provincial capital at Denspasar, it’s a rural society. It is great importance is attached to community matters, including social harmony. Bali is eager to share its flamboyant religious culture, from its coasts all the way to northern towns like Ubud, there is a massive collection of hotels, restaurants, bars and tour offices It is by far, arguably, the most famous island for tourism in Indonesia.

 

Bali’s strong culture and religion are some of the main reasons why tourists are attracted. Bali, unlike the rest of Indonesia, predominant religion is Hinduism/Buddhism. Bali’s rice paddies, temples, aesthetically pleasing cafes and art shops are what charms the people, the internationally bestselling book “Eat How Bali”, definitely helped shaped Bali on how preserved today – a place of self-discovery, solitude, meditation, yoga and love.

The traditional dishes in Bali are a huge part of their culture in Indonesia, some are old as the culture itself. They mostly consist of rice (nasi campur is the most common), the fresh seafood is good and coconut milk is the favorite ingredient in many recipes. It gives fragrance and a rich texture to curries and sauces. Balinese food mostly all contain some spices to it such as ginger, turmeric or red chillies. Fresh fruit is diverse and delicious. these simple, yet delicious everyday dishes are what tourists are looking forward to eat. Here are some choices to try if you want to try the essence of Bali Island on the plate:

  •          Satay, or sate in Bahasa Indonesia, are grilled meat slices skewered on a stick, sometimes pork, chicken, beef or seafood and served with a sweet, peanut dipping. Babi guling (roast pig) is a very succulent pork dish often served at cultural performances or ceremonies.

  •         Ayam betutu (spicy chicken) is a crispy and cooked with chilli. It is usually served with a tangy lemon sauce. Legend has it that betutu was once the king’s favorite dish.
